San Simeon offers very nice accommodation options but I have to say that they can be expensive and fill up so quickly. In the center of King City, you will find so many shops, museums, and restaurants but not many good hotels so if you are on a budget and looking to stay inland from the Big Sur Coast, you will be looking at renting an Airbnb nearby. King City is also famous for its glamorous golf courses so why not take your first lesson?
