Hi there traveler and welcome to Tbilisi! Tired from all the wine and khachapuri and want to explore the coffee culture in Tbilisi? You’re in the right spot!

As a coffee aficionado myself, I visited quite a few coffee spots during my trip to Tbilisi and was in awe of all the cool coffee places. But to find them, I really had to dig deep and ask for recommendations from coffee-addict friends who live there. In this article, I made a selection of the 16 best places that you just have to try!

My personal favorite was Shavi Coffee Roasters, but there are so many other good spots I can’t wait to tell you about! I guarantee you’ll find a place to perfectly suit your taste!

Check out this map where you can see all the places that I’ve included in this post:

A checklist titled "Coffee Places Checklist Tbilisi" with a list of coffee shops and photos of various Tbilisi scenes. Coffee beans are scattered around the design.

1. Shavi Coffee Roasters

Fancy a specialty coffee in a modern, cozy space in the city center where you can also get some work done? Then you’ll love Shavi Coffee Roasters! Located just a few minutes from the city’s central street (Avenue Rustaveli), you can easily reach this coffee place from any point in town, but it’s best to do so on foot due to limited parking.

TIP: Try the dark roasted beans and pair your coffee with their delicious cherry pie! It’s a perfect match!

Note that Shavi is very popular with remote workers, so it’s best to grab your spot early in the day to get work done. They also have a separate section for those who just want to drink coffee.

Why visit: delicious dark roasts and desserts
Must-try drink: flat white
Location: 40 Mikheil Zandukeli Street

2. Erti kava Coffee Room

Set in an old building but featuring a sleek interior, Erti is a coffee room with charm. Erti is equally popular among coffee drinkers and those who want to grab delicious English breakfast, as it opens really early, at 8 AM.

Tbilisi sleeps in, and many restaurants open later in the day, around noon. Finding a coffee place with delicious food early in the morning is a jackpot!

Oh, and the staff here speak excellent English, so that’s also a big plus!

Why visit: delicious breakfast and coffee
Must-try drink: cappuccino
Location: 8 Mitropan Laghidze Street

3. Black Cup

Fancy sipping on your coffee in the company of cats? Then hurry up and take your spot at Black Cup! We had coffee here on our way down from Mtatsminda Park, and I literally had to stay for 30 minutes longer because there were cute kittens everywhere (probably grown by now, but still there).

The coffee here is really delicious. Try their Raf, a sweet espresso-based coffee drink with vanilla and cream. This drink originated in Russia, but it quickly spread all around the region. It’s too sweet for my taste, but I recommend it if you usually drink your coffee with sugar!

Why visit: nice garden, cats
Must-try drink: Raf
Location: 2/3 Mikheil Zandukeli Street, Shota Rustaveli Ave

4. Kvarts coffee

Kvarts coffee is one of Tbilisi’s most popular and top-rated coffee places! A definite must for if you want a unique souvenir when visiting the town, as they have an artist who draws portraits of the customers on the coffee cups!

Despite being super small (better get here early if you want to get a table), Kvarts is still very cozy and inviting, plus their staff speaks English, which isn’t always the case in other coffee places.

The coffee here is just normal quality, so don’t expect much there, but the unique concept surely makes this place worth it to be on the list.

Why visit: personalized coffee cups
Must-try drink: Kvarts special with cinnamon
Location: 26 Shota Rustaveli Ave

5. Shukura

Shukura is a bit outside the city center (it’s in the Vake district), but if you’re staying nearby, it’s definitely worth the visit. They have lovely baristas, serve breakfast with really interesting dishes (think ham omelet with stracciatella or shakshuka), and have reasonable prices.

The room décor feels super cozy, almost like you’re at home. But Shakura is yet another remote-worker favorite (can’t blame them), so try to get here earlier in the day, ideally for their creative breakfast.

Why visit: beautiful interior
Must-try drink: caramel cappuccino
Location: 49 Irakli Abashidze Street

6. Pulp

You know those places with an incredibly calm and friendly atmosphere that feel so good to be in? Well, Pulp fits right in that description! Add excellent coffee, fresh and delicious pastry, and a surprisingly good wine selection, and you get both a morning and evening chill-out place.

Try their cardamom bun along with your favorite type of coffee and head to explore Tbilisi, as this place is conveniently located on Rustaveli Avenue towards Vake (one of Tbilisi’s trendiest neighborhoods).

Why visit: cozy, inviting atmosphere, great drink selection
Must-try drink: their specialty coffee
Location: 22 Simon Janashia Street

7. BNKR specialty coffee roasters

BNKR specialty coffee roasters have 2 locations in central Tbilisi, and I won’t be surprised to see another one open elsewhere soon! These guys know what they’re doing and you can see it in all the details around, but mostly in their coffee quality.

Some coffee places are known for their lovely atmosphere, some have top quality coffee, and some are known for the friendliest staff. BNKR has it all! Their pomegranate chemex makes customers come back for more, and so do other bottled coffee drinks you can find here (think apple espresso, cool tonic, and even coffee with alcohol!)

Why visit: unique coffee combinations, lovely atmosphere
Must-try drink: pomegranate coffee
Location: 26 Simon Janashia Street

8. Chika

Chika sits in the city center of Tbilisi, just next to Rustaveli Metro station, and it’s the perfect place to grab-and-go your coffee when you’re out and about.

They have a great coffee selection and amazing matcha lattes, serve fresh and tasty food, and welcome remote workers. Chika is basically your all-in-one coffee place, restaurant, and workplace! Ideally, consider Chika for brunch, but know that it also opens early in the morning if you’re an early bird!

Why visit: delicious food, nice coffee selection
Must-try drink: cappuccino, iced matcha latte
Location: 9 Merab Kostava Street

9. Chernyi Cooperative Coffee Roasters

This brand-new specialty coffee spot in Tbilisi is really promising! Choose from a variety of beans for drip coffee, pour-overs, and hand drips, or just talk to the friendly baristas who’ll help you choose the perfect drink for your taste buds!

Chernyi has a modern, minimalist design, and the prices here are a bit higher, so it’s not your typical cozy place for coffee. But it’s still more than worth it for coffee connoisseurs, there’s no doubt about that!

Why visit: true specialty coffee
Must-try drink: cold brew
Location: 17 Mtskheta Street

10. Daily Grind Coffee & More

Here’s one of my favorite coffee places in Old Town Tbilisi! They treat tourists so nicely (the location is Downtown so lots of hotels close by) and are always happy to help choose the best coffee, including v60!

Grab your favorite type of coffee (I don’t have any specific recommendations for this place; they’re all delicious), sit outside to people-watch, and soak in the Old Tbilisi vibes with style! P.S. They have vegan milk options, just in case you were wondering!

Why visit: central location in Old Tbilisi, delicious coffee
Must-try drink: any
Location: 4 Kote Afkhazi Street

11. Unity Kava

Set in Old Tbilisi just next to Liberty Square, Unity Kava is a serious competitor to all the other specialty coffee places on this list! They have some of the largest varieties of coffee drinks both hot and cold, plus refreshing non-coffee options.

Although coffee is their specialty, they also have fresh pastries, with their Lviv lemon cheesecake being a top seller.

Why visit: large coffee variety
Must-try drink: orange cappuccino, flat white
Location: 20 Shalva Dadiani Street

12. The LITTLE specialty coffee house

Some of the best coffee places on this list are in Vake, and The LITTLE is another cool addition! The pleasant, cozy atmosphere is inviting for reading or just chit-chatting with friends while sipping on specialty coffee or delicious tea.

Try any of their espresso-based coffee on your way to the nearby Mziuri Park or just grab a seat in the coffee place, I’m sure you’ll love it!

FUN FACT: This place gets their beans from Groovy Roasters, so you know their coffee is top quality!

Why visit: friendly atmosphere, excellent espresso-based coffee
Must-try drink: espresso
Location: 27/29, Ilia Chavchavadze Avenue

13. Stories Tbilisi Coffee & Tea

Two people holding coffee cups labeled "Stories" and "ზუნა & space." One holds a paper bag with a slice of bread or cake. They are outdoors on a cobblestone street with buildings in the background.

I know I’ve recommended cappuccino a lot throughout this article (what can I do, it’s the favorite drink of half of the coffee drinkers in the world!), but Stories Tbilisi seems to really have the best cappuccino in town!

This small coffee place is located just across the Ibis hotel in Old Tbilisi. If you ask me, it’s better to get a takeaway and enjoy their coffee by strolling in the old town because their chairs aren’t the most comfortable! But this could just be my personal impression.

Why visit: the best cappuccino
Must-try drink: cappuccino
Location: 9 Galaktion Tabidze Street

14. Early Bird Coffee

Early Bird is exactly what the name suggests – an ideal place in Tbilisi for early birds to eat a nutritious breakfast along with great coffee. Try a variety of syrniki, Eastern European cheese pancakes super popular in Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. This place apparently has the tastiest ones!

Plus, if you ever dreamed of reading a book by a fireplace while sipping on balanced coffee, this is the place to be!

Why visit: best syrniki for breakfast
Must-try drink: Raf
Location: Bazaleti Street 2

15. Coffee Place

Check out Coffee Place in Old Town, it’s so simple and soulful! With plenty of options for vegan coffee aficionados and matcha tea lovers, Coffee Place often lacks empty seats, so you better get here early!

Coffee Place is also surprisingly affordable for a specialty coffee spot, so it’s no wonder it has tons of repeat visitors! They only serve plant-based milk and desserts, including a yummy tiramisu!

Why visit: vegan coffee and desserts
Must-try drink: matcha and cappuccino
Location: 24 Galaktion Tabidze Street

16. Eleven Windows

A place that looks as if it came out of a vintage Ikea magazine, ideal for a late breakfast in an inviting atmosphere. The coffee place opens at 10 AM (closer to the typical schedule of Tbilisi coffee places and restaurants) and is pretty quick to fill up!

Try their espresso tonic to freshen up in the hot summer months and grab a seat by the window for the best experience!

Why visit: vintage décor
Must-try drink: espresso tonic
Location: 6 Niaghvari Street
