1. Naoussa – where to stay in Paros for the first time
Naoussa is a beautiful village in the Northern part of the island that sits in a natural bay. This coastal village is a great place for first-timers as it has a little bit of everything! Great hotels, amazing beaches with soft sand, vibrant nightlife, and a fun vibe!
Although Naoussa is a popular holiday destination (and a bit pricey), the picturesque fishing village has maintained its traditional charm. It’s still lined with whitewashed cottages with blue window frames – a staple of Cycladic architecture.
One of the top attractions in Naoussa is the Venetian Castle (map), a half-sunken castle in the old port of the village. From here, go for a walk along the port and stop at any one of the restaurants serving delicious, fresh seafood. A top choice is Barbarossa Restaurant (map), a very upscale restaurant, often frequented by celebrities.
When it comes to Paros nightlife, Naoussa is the busiest spot on the island! There are plenty of bars and clubs – Linardo (map) is a popular one – that attract young crowds.
The romantic views and gorgeous sunsets also make it an incredible area for couples (especially for a honeymoon!).
The best beaches in Naoussa, Paros, are Piperi Beach (map) and Agioi Anargyroi Beach (map), about a 10-minute walk from the center of the village. However, I highly suggest you rent a car and take short trips to other nearby beaches like Santa Maria (map) and Kolympethres Beach (map)!
NOTE: The prices of sunbeds on Paros beaches range from €10 to €40 per pair with an umbrella. The price depends on the season, the beach, and the row you pick (first row being the most expensive). Some beach bars let you use the sunbeds for free if you order something from the bar worth at least €10.
On your way to Kolympethres Beach, stop to explore the town of Livadia (map) – not to be confused with Livadia Beach. The town hosts a variety of luxury hotels and has a quiet atmosphere – it’s a great place to spend the day and just a 10-minute drive from Naoussa.
TIP: If you have an extra night in Paros, spend it in Livadia at the Parilio Hotel. This is one of the best luxury hotels on the island, and guests at the Parilio Paros enjoy high-end facilities like a pool, fitness center, sauna, and more!
This beachfront resort has charming Greek decor! Featuring rooms with private porches that overlook the sea or the beautiful garden, this accommodation is a mesmerizing oasis where guests can relax at the spa all day, swim in the lagoon-style pool, and eat yummy food at the restaurant on-site.

- Visit the Paros Park (map) nature reserve
2. Parikia – where to stay in Paros for history lovers
If you’re eager to learn more about this unique island, I recommend finding a place to stay in Parikia, the island’s capital. Situated a 20-minute drive Southwest of Naoussa, Parikia (or Parow Town) is a must-visit for anyone looking for historical attractions, traditional tavernas, and a lively atmosphere.
Parikia is home to some of the island’s biggest historical attractions, like the Windmill in Port (map), the Frankish Castle Paroikia (map), and the Church of the Virgin Mary Ekatontapyliani (map), also known as the Church of 100 Doors.
FUN FACT: Legend says that the church of 100 doors has 99 visible doors and one secret door that will open when the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul becomes an Orthodox church again!
I’m sure you’ll love Parikia Old Town, with its narrow, cobbled streets, whitewashed houses, and cool dining spots. One of the best spots to enjoy a traditional Greek meal is Bountaraki (map), a lovely taverna – but keep in mind it’s closed on Mondays!
There are lots of beautiful sandy beaches in Parikia, and some of the best ones are Livadia Beach (map) – not connected to the town of Livadia – and Paralia Parikia Beach (map). But if you are like me and can’t get enough of the beaches here, jump on a ferry and spend a night or two in one of the many hotels on Naxos Island, which is super close to Paros!
If you’re traveling without a car, Parikia is the best area to stay in Paros. The town is extremely walkable, and the beaches are just a 15 to 20-minute stroll away from the town center.
PRO TIP: Take a water taxi from Parikia, the nearby island of Antiparos, and visit the impressive Cave of Antiparos (map). You can also commission a water taxi to take you to Krios Beach (map) or Marcelo Beach (map). A single ride should cost ~€3, and you can find a taxi at the port.
Let’s check out the best hotels in Parikia, Paros:
I like the minimalistic design of the rooms at his modern hotel in Parikia. They have all the facilities you need, including air conditioning and a flat-screen TV. Enjoy a delicious Greek breakfast before you head out to explore the island. Or, if it’s too hot, head for a swim in the indoor pool!

3. Chrissi Akti – best place to stay in Paros for water sports
Once you see the sands on Chrissi Akti (or the Golden Beach), you’ll understand its name! Set on the East Coast, this long stretch of gold sand is the best part of Paros to stay for trying different types of watersports, especially windsurfing. Just a 25-minute drive South of Naoussa, this part of the island is a hub of activity – you won’t be bored for a second!
You’ll spend most of your time here on Golden Beach (map)! This is the perfect spot for swimming, as the waters are crystal-clear and shallow – ideal if you’re vacationing with kids! But since windsurfing is the main activity, do expect to face a few windy hours every day.
And while you’re there, why not try windsurfing? You can sign up for lessons at the Paros Surf Club (map), situated near Paralia Nea Chrisi Akti (map), i.e., New Golden Beach. And if you’re not up for windsurfing, you can always have a fun time kitesurfing!
There’s not much sightseeing to be done in Chrissi Akti, but there are quite a few beach bars! The Beach Project (map) is, IMO, one of the coolest bars in Chrissi Akti; it serves delicious food and drinks at affordable prices and the beach is stunning, too.
I like the fusion of modern and Greek decor of these villas. Everything is super chic yet simple and made to suit all your needs. Set just a short walk away from the beach, the accommodation has a swimming pool, a terrace with sea views, and private parking!
Other accommodation options in Chrissi Akti
A short walking distance from the beach, this aparthotel offers studios with private terraces, free private parking, and Wi-Fi

4. Drios – the best part of Paros for a relaxing stay
Drios is a small village on the Southeast coast of Paros, about a 20-minute drive South of Naoussa and just a 4-minute drive from Chrissi Akti. If you’re wondering about what area to stay in Paros for the ultimate relaxing holiday, this quiet village is the perfect spot.
The main beach here is Paralia Drios (map), while the village is dotted with cute restaurants and tavernas. There really isn’t too much to do here, which is perfect if you want to relax. You can just spend your days at the beach and your evenings enjoying a quiet dinner in the village.
However, if you want to do more with your holiday, you can always make the drive to Golden Beach (Chrissi Akti) or check out the popular beach Paralia Lolantonis (map) – it’s just a 7-minute drive away. The village of Ampelas (map) is another beach haven just a 23-minute drive away – you might want to check it out.
Looking for something more off the beaten path? Take a day trip to the inland village of Lefkes (a 30-minute drive), where you can learn more about the local culture and hike the Byzantine Road (see trail map).
If you don’t want to explore anything other than Drios, you can plan a trip without a car. Regardless of what hotel you’ll be staying in, the beach is within walking distance. But if you want to explore your surroundings, I highly recommend renting a car and making the most of your stay.

5. Piso Livadi – best place to stay in Paros for families
Traveling with the whole family to Paros island? Then you’ll probably want to stay in an area that isn’t so packed with tourists, even during the high season. Well, Piso Livadi is just that spot! Set on the Southeast side of the island, 12 km (7.5 miles) from Naoussa, Piso Livadi has a relaxed atmosphere, many top-rated hotels, and 2 gorgeous beaches.
Up until recently, this village was inhabited just by locals. Now, there are quite a few hotels here, followed by the tourist crowds. Still, the village managed to retain its authentic Greek charm – which makes it even more attractive.
There are a couple of beaches you can choose from in Piso Livadi; there’s Paralia Piso Livadi (map) and Paralia Logaras (map). Both of these are sandy beaches with clear waters, making them ideal for fun family outings.
Another amazing thing about Piso Livadi is that it’s a great starting point for trips to other islands. You can take a day trip to Antiparos, Naxos, or even Santorini – the fastest ferry takes only 1h20m to get there! The ferry schedules, travel times, and prices are available through Ferryhopper.

6. Aliki – where to stay in Paros for the best beaches
On the South coast of the island, you’ll find another fantastic fishing village that has become quite popular among tourists. Aliki is situated a 30-minute drive South of Naoussa, and it’s home to some of the best beaches in Paros. The village of Aliki is one of the top spots to experience the local atmosphere of the island – another big plus.
The Piso Aliki Beach (map) is the most popular beach in the village, yet it’s not too crowded. Agios Nikolaos Beach (map) is another quiet beach that’s ideal for swimming and sunbathing, while Paralia Aliki (map) is a smaller beach in the center of the village – good for a quick dip in the sea.
Like many of the other resort villages on the island, Aliki has quite a few restaurants and beach bars. I’d particularly recommend To Balcony tou Aki (map), where besides the delicious food, you can enjoy the stunning sunset.
All of the beaches here are just a short walk away from the village center, so you don’t need a car for your stay here. But if you want to explore your surroundings, you can always get a taxi through Welcome Pickups. For each taxi trip, you’ll need to pay a base fare of €3, then €0.68 per km during the day, and €1.36 per km at night.
NOTE: Public transport is also available on Paros, but Naoussa and Parikia are more well-serviced than the rest of the island. You can find more info here.
