Before we dive in and discover all the incredible resorts that I’ve found, I’ll do a quick overview for anyone who hasn’t stayed in these types of resorts before or for those who need a refresher!
Clothing-optional resorts are accommodations where guests have the freedom to wear or not wear clothes in certain designated areas of the resort, such as pools, beaches, and even dining areas.
Usually, the concept of these hotels is to create a comfortable, judgment-free atmosphere where people can relax and feel very liberated.
The rules tend to differ from resort to resort, as some allow full nudity only in certain areas like pools and beaches, while some accommodations permit full nudity throughout the property.
As for the types of guests that these resorts attract, you’ll mostly find single people and couples. Although you can totally stay in a clothing-optional resort with a group.

Hidden Beach Au Naturel Resort – for a fully nude experience
This all-inclusive resort is perfect for those of you who want to go full nude! Located in the Riviera Maya, the accommodation offers a spa center, an outdoor swimming pool, 2 restaurants, plenty of water sports and a free airport shuttle.
Photos and using a camera device is totally prohibited and you’ll need a special permit from them if you want to use it. Some of the suites offer ocean views, mini-bars and swim-up pools.
Temptation Resort – for tourists who like to party
Sipping cocktails under the sun on the beach while wearing nothing? Sounds like fun! This beachfront all-inclusive resort in Cancun is perfect for those who want to party during this holiday.
The resort offers some fun activities like cabaret shows, topless themed parties and there’s also a casino where you can try your luck. Here you’ll also find a spa center, 7 restaurants, 2 swimming pools and a fitness center.
Desire Pearl Resort and Spa, Riviera Maya – best for couples
Set near Puerto Morelos, this clothing-optional resort is perfect for a romantic getaway in a place free of inhibitions (and clothes, obviously). There are several areas where you can lose all clothes like the main pool, the beach and the jacuzzi lounge.
The resort also offers some fun nude activities like water polo, volleyball, margarita lessons and themed parties. While here you can also relax at the spa center and enjoy some yummy dishes at the 3 on-site restaurants (clothing is required in the dining areas).
Desire Riviera Maya Resort – for a relaxing holiday
In the mood for a chill holiday, where you can sunbathe by the pool or on the beach all day long, preferably without clothes? Then check out this resort set in Puerto Morelos that offers all that plus more.

Casa Cupula Boutique Hotel – great for the LGBTQ+ community
You’re going to love the style of this boutique hotel that’s set in Puerto Vallarta! The LGBTQ+-friendly accommodation has tons of amazing facilities like 2 swimming pools, a hot tub, spa and a sun terrace.
While enjoying the sun by the pool you can be in your birthday suit, however, swimsuits are required during restaurant hours when the general public can access the hotel. The accommodation also has a clothing-optional pool club where you’ll find a heated saltwater pool and a hot tub.
Punta Serena – offers stunning views
Set atop a cliff in Jalisco, this stunning hotel offers a swimming pool as well as a private beach area where you can go full nude and enjoy the sun and salty waters. However, clothing is required on the hotel premises.
While here you can enjoy some yoga classes, spend all day at the spa trying their fab treatments and massages and eat some delicious food at the on-site restaurant.
Intima Resort – with an intimate setting
If you value privacy and love a space that feels intimate and relaxed then you’ll love this resort set in Tulum. Surrounded by trees from all sides, which sort of gives the feeling that you’re a very modern fortress!
The accommodation offers villas with private jacuzzis and plunge pools and also easy access to the main pool where you can relax and go skinny-dipping.

Set on an idyllic beach in Oaxaca, this gorgeous hotel offers some gorgeous suites with a balcony that overlooks either the sea or the pool. Their nude beach area is the perfect place to unwind with a drink and listen to some music (there’s a DJ daily here from 2PM to 10PM).
The accommodation also comes with an on-site restaurant that serves international dishes and a spa center where you can enjoy some massages and other treatments.
Playa Sonrisa – for adventure enthusiasts
Located in Costa Maya, this unique, clothing-optional resort loves original activities! Ever wanted to try nude scuba diving? Well, now it’s your chance, because this hotel offers that, as well as, kayaks, snorkeling gear and bikes.
This place is perfect for those who want to leave their inhibitions at home and spend some days away from societal rules!
Casa Nudista Zipolite – for a fun full nude experience
This LGBTQ+-friendly resort in Oaxaca is perfect for anyone who wants to stay in a hotel where all areas are fully nude! I’d recommend this resort to people who’ve stayed in clothing-optional accommodation before and feel totally comfortable with the idea.
The accommodation features an outdoor swimming pool, a bar and different private or shared rooms that have free Wi-Fi and access to a shared bathroom.
Tips for First-Time Visitors
If this is your first time going to a clothing-optional resort, then definitely check out this section. Here I’ll give some tips and mention some things that you should be aware of when first staying in these types of resorts.

- Be open-minded while there, it’s normal to feel nervous at first however once you get to socialize with the other guests and see that you’re not alone in feeling nervous, you’ll feel more relaxed
- Engage in the activities and experiences that the resort offers, they are designed to make you feel more comfortable and interact with others, which will help create a sense of community, where you’re around like-minded people
- Make sure you know your resort’s policies as not all clothing-optional resorts are the same (some have specific areas designated for nudity while others are entirely clothing-optional, meaning you can be nude in all spaces, at all times)
- Double-check on other rules like restrictions on public displays of affection and taking pictures/videos (most of these resorts have a strict no public-sex policy)
- Always keep a towel with you so you can use it when sitting on loungers and chairs
- Respect people’s boundaries and don’t try to force them into activities that they’re not comfortable with
- Do a bit of research on what type of parties and themed nights the resort you’re staying at offers so you can pack accordingly
- It’s a good idea to not take any pics or videos while there, in order to respect other people’s privacy (sometimes the resorts have a professional photographer on staff so you can check that too if you really want those vacation pics)
- Pick the right resort for you, some places may cater more to couples, singles or LGBTQ+ members
- While these resorts are clothing-optional, public nudity is generally illegal in Mexico, topless sunbathing is sometimes allowed in certain tourist areas but it can still be risky
