That’s right, you don’t have to do anything else but pick your favorite place! Don’t worry, whether you have small children or children aged 10 to 15, you’ll find a place to suit your needs!
But once you do, I highly recommend booking it in advance, especially if you’re coming during the high season (June, July, August, and early September), as that’s when the prices are the highest, and booking early could really help you save some euros!

You’ll probably need a lot of energy to keep up with your little ones when engaging in vibrant kids club activities on the children’s playground or in the games room! You’ll also find bicycle rentals at the resort, perfect for exploring the area!

on the beautiful Calheta beach, which has such a great style! The resort has indoor gaming zones, play areas, and 3 swimming pools where you can relax!
Start your mornings on the sandy beach or on the private balcony of your family rooms from where you can admire the sea (all the suites here have art made by one of their local artists)! Then you can start your fun-filled day by either trying some water sports or some cooking classes with the little ones, although they’ll probably want to bolt and spend the day at the kids club or in the games room! But it’s worth trying!
3. Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort – great for foodies
Family holidays can be so hard to organize, but luckily, I’m here to help you! Here’s an amazing family hotel in Vilamoura that’s all about offering their guests an unforgettable time! Spend your days by the indoor swimming pool or outdoor swimming pool, in the spa center, or on the tennis court with the whole family!
They have 4 restaurants on-site where you can enjoy some traditional Portuguese family meals and some yummy drinks, too. For those who want to experience guided nature and hiking tours or historical excursions, you can check with the tour desk on-site, as they can help you out, or check out GetYourGuide, as they have some fun activities listed there!
4. L’and Vineyards – for wine lovers
Here’s a resort that all parents who are wine lovers will love! Set in a quiet location between vineyards in Alentejo’s scenic countryside, this resort is perfect for a tranquil family break! Here, you’ll be sleeping in some amazing spacious villas with private pools, lots of space, and a fireplace where you can get all cozy!
You’ll also find a public indoor pool and an outdoor swimming pool, plus a gorgeous spa center that offers grape-infused treatments and massages (they have babysitting services if you need someone watching the children)! While the little ones will indulge in the specially prepared kids meals, you can try all the different wines here at their on-site restaurant
5. 3HB Clube Humbria – with all-inclusive family packages
Ever wanted to stay in those cute traditional fishing villages? Now it’s your chance! Set in Olhos d’Agua, this all-inclusive resort is perfect for active families who want to try as many activities as they can during this family holiday and enjoy free food! And I’ll begin with the most exciting one (drum roll please), the on-site water park!
Here, you can dive into child-friendly swimming pools, relax on the sandy beaches just a short walk away from the resort, play in the games room with all the family, or try all sorts of new things like archery! But keep in mind that it’s important to book your hotel in Portugal in advance. These are some of the best family hotels in the country, and I’m sure they will sell out fast!
6. Martinhal Quinta Family Resort – villas with a private pool
Relax in family suites and villas at this amazing resort that’s set in Ria Formosa Natural Park, just a 30-min drive away from Faro Airport! The family-friendly hotel feels like a home away from home! Here, the villas have private swimming pools, a kitchen, a patio, and all the other necessary facilities!
Spend your time having fun with the little ones at the kids club! But definitely explore places outside the resort once you feel grounded enough after your flight! You can rent out bikes from the resort, go on walking tours, and even horseback riding if you want! Gotta make sure you have some fun memories from your family holiday!
7. Tivoli Alvor Algarve Resort – with a fun water park
Want to spend your family holidays in a seaside town in Portugal? Then I might have just the right place for you! This accommodation set in Alvor (a great area in Algarve) is so dreamy it offers some amazing family rooms with a cute furnished patio that overlooks the gorgeous gardens.
Perfect for those who want to stay in a hotel with mini-golf courses and an on-site water park and slides, the family resort is within walking distance of a gorgeous beach, but they also offer a free shuttle bus there! Start your day with a delicious breakfast, then head to the swimming pool (there are 6 in total, including a children’s pool) and have a blast!

If you love outrageous locations and incredible views, then you have to see this stunning cliff-top family-friendly hotel above Portugal’s longest beach, Praia da Falésia! Definitely one of my favorite places as it has such cool decor and rooms with balconies that either overlook the sea or the garden.
I’m sure you’ll be eager to hit the sandy beach, which is just a short walk away, but definitely take advantage of the pool on site, the health club, or their luxurious spa. If you’re coming during the summer season, you’ll also get to enjoy the water sports center. And don’t worry about food; with their 8 restaurants, I’m sure you’ll have plenty of delicious options to choose from!
9. Aqua Village, Health Resort – for nature lovers
How amazing is this family-friendly hotel? Perfect for those who love spending time in nature, hiking, and cycling through woods with their little ones, this accommodation is for sure a spot you have to see! Especially if you like all things related to self-care! Here, they have a luxurious spa center with all sorts of treatments, a thermal spring, and 3 swimming pools.
Their one-bedroom apartments have a lot of space and have self-catering amenities (but there is a restaurant on-site as well). You’ll also find a sports park and a cinema room where you can enjoy some family movie nights. Set among gardens in a stunning cliff-top family hotel in Lagos, Portugal, this place is perfect for those looking for beachfront locations with safe zones. The hotel features villas with your own pool, sofa beds, and so much space!

Looking for a place to stay in Fenais da Luz? Then check out this family-friendly hotel that offers amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean! Start your mornings with some coffee and breakfast by the infinity pool, or enjoy it on the balcony of your amazing rooms with a TV and so much space! Once you’re all nourished, you can start your day!
Since there are so many fun things to do here, I’d recommend trying a bit of all! So maybe go for bike tours if you want to discover the area, or try some water sports like snorkeling if you guys love being underwater. You can also hang out with your little ones at the children’s playground! There’s also a spa center and a heated pool for anyone who needs a bit of time off!
13. NAU Salema Beach Village – a modern hotel with a spa
I’ve just found some incredible self-catering houses in Salema that I think you’ll love! The accommodation offers gorgeous ocean views, free private parking, and a seasonal outdoor pool!
Although this hotel is pretty simple, it has all the facilities you need for your fun holiday! Firstly, you’ll stay in spacious houses with a kitchen, a TV, a terrace and many other things. Then, you’ll also have access to 2 swimming pools, a hot tub, and bikes that you can borrow to explore the area!
14. Eden Resort – for a peaceful family getaway in Portugal
They picked the name right for this family-friendly hotel as it does feel like the Garden of Eden for the holidays! Surrounded by lush Portuguese landscapes and offering self-catering rooms with balconies overlooking the outdoor pool and gardens, this place is definitely a keeper!
Located in Albufeira, a tranquil area, the accommodation boasts a kids club, a tennis court, an adventure playground, an indoor soft play area, and 4 swimming pools! This busy resort tends to turn into a children’s village when lots of families come here! They all love all the experiences they can try, from snorkeling to diving, hiking, and windsurfing! You can also experience horse riding tours across scenic routes in the area!
16. Boavista Golf & Spa – for golf lovers
Still haven’t found that golf resort that offers many amenities for the entire family? No worries, I’ve got you covered with this amazing accommodation located in Lagos, just a 10-min drive away from the historic centre. It has an 18-hole golf course, self-catering apartments, and spa facilities.
While I’m guessing one of you will be on the golf course all day long, the other can relax at the spa (they offer babysitting services if you need someone to watch the kids). Or you can spend some fun time with them on the playground, trying archery or playing in the game room!
