Getting ready for a skiing trip? Once you make all your reservations, it’s time to start packing! But prepping for a ski trip can be confusing – thinking about everything you need to bring can overwhelm you. No need to worry – I compiled the ultimate ski trip packing list, so all you need to do is check all the boxes!
I myself am a ski enthusiast, and I like to plan ahead, so I did a lot of research to create this list of the 50 ski trip essentials. Besides the basics – skis or a snowboard, helmet, goggles – I also included some things you might forget when getting ready.
I divided the list into different categories to make planning easier, so you can check whether you have all the necessary ski gear and clothing. You’ll also get a better idea of what clothes to pack for off the slopes, as well as what toiletries and miscellaneous items you’ll need to add to your luggage.
If you still need anything from this list, go ahead and place your order! It’s always better to have everything in advance – it makes the packing process so much easier.
Let’s get started!

Contents
Ski & snowboard gear
The most important thing for any skiing trip is the gear. Whether you’re a skier or a snowboarder, you’ll need to get all of the items on this skiing gear list:
- Skis – even though choosing skis is totally up to personal preference, I like these Atomic Bent skis
- Snowboard – if you need a new snowboard, Burton has some great models for both men and women
- Poles – I would never go skiing without my poles; if you don’t own a pair, I recommend getting these lightweight trekking poles
- Ski boots/snowboard boots – if you still need a pair of ski boots, these Salomon boots are a fantastic choice
- Helmet – your head needs to be protected at all times while you’re on the slopes, so getting a unisex skiing helmet is a good investment
- Goggles – a good pair of goggles is one of the must-have skiing essentials; these unisex goggles with 100% UV protection are my favorite
- Sunglasses – get yourself a good pair of polarized sunglasses with UV-blocking technology to protect your eyes from the sun
- Hand & toe warmers – I recommend getting this variety pack of toe, hand, and body warmers to stay comfortable and avoid frostbite
Protective gear for beginner snowboarders
If you’re a beginner in skiing or snowboarding, or you’re just not super confident on the slopes, it’s a good idea to get some extra gear to protect yourself from injuries.
- Knee & elbow pads – this protective gear set has both knee and elbow pads, wrist guards, and a helmet, so you’ll have everything you need to be protected
Ski Clothing
Besides the items on the ski equipment list, you need to have the appropriate clothing for your ski trip. Below, you’ll see my list of all the clothing items you need for your skiing adventure:
- Waterproof ski jacket – it’s really important to have a good ski jacket that’s both waterproof and windproof; I really like this women’s hooded waterproof jacket, while guys won’t go wrong with this windproof snow coat
- Waterproof ski pants – if you don’t have a pair of sturdy and comfy ski pants, check out these women’s insulated ski pants or these fleece-lined snow pants for men
- Snowsuit – if you don’t want to get a separate pair of ski pants and a jacket, you should get a good quality one-piece snowsuit
- Base layer tops & bottoms – you need to wear something below your snowsuit, and there’s no better choice than an ultra-soft base layer for women and men
- Neck warmer – many people often forget about the neck – and you need to keep your neck warm! Your best option is this turtle neck heavyweight neck warmer
- Wool socks – keeping your feet is essential on every skiing trip – these merino wool socks will do the trick
- Ski gloves or mittens – another essential piece of clothing for a ski trip is a pair of gloves, like these ihuan waterproof gloves
- Winter hat – even if you’re not a hat person, you’ll need one for your ski trip; I like this soft and warm unisex beanie
- Ski mask – the last essential piece of clothing you’ll need is a lightweight ski mask that will protect your face from the wind and the snow

Non-ski clothing
You’re probably wondering what to bring on a ski trip besides the gear and the ski clothing. More than likely, you won’t be spending all your time on the slopes, so you’ll need some extra clothes – featured on the list below:
- Winter jacket – since ski trips are a winter activity, you have to bring a comfy and warm jacket; for the ladies, I found this long, waterproof winter jacket, and for men, this nice fleece-lined jacket is a great option
- Scarf – this long, knit scarf is an amazing choice for any occasion and works well for both men and women
- Gloves and mittens – pack a pair of warm winter gloves (like these)
- Sweaters – bring at least 2 or 3 warm sweaters
- Jeans and pants – a couple of pairs of pants or jeans should be enough for your trip
- Winter socks – these thermal socks are made from merino wool, come in a variety of colors, and are guaranteed to keep you warm
- Waterproof winter boots – cold weather snow boots, or men’s insulated winter boots,
- Underwear – be sure to bring enough underwater to have a fresh pair for every day of your trip
- Pajamas – depending on the length of your stay, pack one or two pairs of pajamas
Toiletries
For any trip, regardless of where you’re going, you have to pack a toiletry bag – and the list below contains all the things you’ll need to add to your bag
- Sunscreen – skiing also means a lot of sun exposure, so sunscreen is a must; if you don’t have a favorite, this oil-free sunscreen with SPF 46 works very well for me
- Lip balm – unfortunately, chapped lips are a very common occurrence in winter, especially when skiing. If you’re looking for a product, my go-to is this SPF lip balm
- Aloe vera gel – aloe vera is great for treating sunburn, and this an amazing product for that; I always use it after a long day at the slopes – it’s so nice and soothing
- Toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, and mouthwash
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Hairbrush, combs, and other hair accessories
- Body wash & lotion
- Deodorant
- Shaving supplies
- Cosmetics and makeup remover
Miscellaneous
In this final section of this skiing packing list, you will find all the miscellaneous things that might slip your mind when packing for the trip. So, here’s a quick reminder:
- Lift Tickets/Passes – if you purchase any ski tickets or passes in advance, be sure to pack the printed version, but it’s always a good idea to have an electronic backup
- Itineraries & reservation confirmations – just like with the tickets, you should have both a printed and an electronic version of your reservations and itinerary
- Credit card and cash
- Identification card
- Travel insurance details – if you don’t have a trusted insurance provider, I can recommend SafetyWing; you can find our full review here
- Medical insurance cards
- Medication
- Mobile phone and charger
- Power bank – I never go on a trip without my power bank – I can recommend this high-speed power charger that’s compatible with both Android and iOS devices
- Travel adapter – it’s always a good idea to have an international travel adapter with you, especially if you’re going on a trip out of the country
- Headphones or earbuds – every trip requires a good pair of headphones or earbuds – I bring both. Currently, I use Sony headphones (similar to these), and my beloved JBL Tune Buds
- Travel pillow – this memory foam pillow is a personal favorite of mine and makes traveling much more comfortable
- First aid kit – in case you don’t have a first-aid kit that’s suitable for traveling, this is a great choice
