Welcome to our 1880's villa in the quiet, leafy suburb of Mt Eden. Since buying our home in 1991 we have lovingly restored it retaining all of its heritage character while incorporating all modern amenities such as central heating. * Please note that we only accept ONE reservation at a time, so you will have the full house to yourselves (apart from us). The booking is for a 2 bedroom suite with the main guest bedroom having its own well appointed bathroom. There is also a second smaller bedroom available with its own wonderful vintage style toilet. This suite option is perfect for a couple, friends or 2 couples travelling together. In this case, the main bathroom (shower) would be shared by both rooms. Both rooms have very comfortable Queen beds with pure cotton sheets. You have you own large private guest lounge with TV to relax in along with several outdoor seating areas to enjoy. All day tea coffee and snacks are provided along with a complementary wine or beer at night. There are many restaurants at either ends of our street and an excellent bus service into the city. There is a shared shuttle van service from the airport to our door or you can use Taxi's/Uber.
Together with my husband Roy we have travelled extensively. We enjoy different cultures and experiences and love trying different food (and wine!) around the world. Roy loves music while I love movies. We are passionate about our 1880 Villa and have been lovingly restoring it for the past 30 years. We have a very unusual occupation designing and creating collectors soft toys which we sell around the world. Heather is an Internationally famous teddy bear artist making amazing Artist bears under her D'Lyell Bears label. We work from our home studio so are always available if you need us. We will do our best to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible and you can see as much or as little of us as you like. We look forward to welcoming you to our home!
Mt Eden is an fantastic older suburb of Auckland full of historic villas. At the bottom of our road (5 mins walk) is Dominion Rd full of interesting and varied mainly Asian restaurants, cafes, and bars. At the top of our road (10 mins walk) is the historic Mt Eden village packed with trendy, restaurants, cafes and bars. At the top and bottom of Grange Rd there are excellent bus services into the CBD (every 10 min at peak times). Taxis and Uber are readily available. If you are driving we are easy to find and well positioned to motorways. The famous Eden Park is a 15 min walk away. The volcanic cone of Mt Eden (Maungawhau in Maori) is only 1.5km and away and a lovely 35min walk to the top where you can get a fabulous 360 degree views of beautiful Auckland. Auckland Museum is only 4.6km and it is easy to spend a few hours wandering around this stunning building and grounds. Downtown Auckland is full of vibrant cafes, restaurants and bars, especially around the Viaduct area where the Americas Cup was held. An easy ride by Uber.
