Company info

We, Mirka, Hari and Marilena came to live here in Merida in 2009. Since then we have constructed our houses and cabanas to rent. We have chosen Ometepe because we love it! Our life style is very simple but rewarding. We live in the middle of nature with all our many pets and horses. This is also our home but we love sharing it with our guests and friends. We are not a typical hotel with reception, receptionist, etc. We are very informal. Apart house keeping and gardening, we do everything else ourselves.

Property info

Finca Montania Sagrada lies in an open space at the foot of Volcano Maderas. The property is about 50mts above lake level, off the main road and quiet. Coming here is not for everyone. The short road (400mts) to reach our gate is very stony and bumpy. Not all vehicles make it up. In the rainy seasons, May, June, September and October it becomes worst. Exploring the neighbourhood is best done walking. All activities are close by, horse riding, kayaking on the Istian river, hiking volcano maderas, hiking to San ramon's water fall and swimming. Our finca has a lush garden full of tropical flowers and fruits. We offer a great breakfast, but dinner or lunch are served only at request. We do not have a typical bar or restaurant. We only offer, fresh fruit juices, coffee, tea, water, beer and wine. For other drinks you will have to ask in advance, before coming here, we will stock them for you. The restaurant offers mainly Italian pastas, with salad and bruschette. Merida is still very rural and the local municipality does not much for this community. Water pipes break and electricity can go missing for hours. We have a huge water tank to guarantee water to our guests.

Neighborhood info

From our finca you can reach the main road in 5 mins. There you can find a number of local restaurants, and little shops, also you can rent bicycles, motorbikes and scooters. There are a number of short and long hikes you can do. Exploring Merida is best on foot. In the dry season tou can walk on the lake shore for miles. The road that goes towards San Ramon runs along the lake and you can explore little lovely, different and quiet beaches all the way. Nature here is amazing! Walking around you can see howler monkeys, squirrels and many different species of birds and parrots. There are also an incredible amount of old, huge trees. Hiking volcano maderas you walk through sub-tropical forests and rain forests where vegetation is unique. Merida is one of the most beautiful parts of the island, people here still live on fishing and agriculture.
