It was a cold day in Reykjavik however the sun was out and this was a perfect way for us to start our 5 days in Iceland. Martin was lovely and clearly loved Reykjavik and we got a great history of Iceland while orienting ourselves in this lovely city.
I would highly recommend this tour and recommend you do it at the start of your stay to give you a great start.

My partner and I went on the GuruWalk Free walking tour of Reykjavik in January 2024. Our tour guide Marteinn was friendly, knowledgeable, and hilarious - providing us with real insights into the history of and current life in Iceland, and sharing his own personal experiences with us. We saw plenty of great landmarks on the walking route and throughout the tour he was always on hand to answer any questions that the group had. At the end of the tour he also stuck around to provide recommendations for food, drink, travel, and generally chat to members of the group. All in all a great guy and a real credit to GuruWalk!

Tomas was a great guide! He was very knowledgeable as a history major, but knew how to condense long and complex information into a simplified version for us so we understood the history of Reykjavík/Iceland as he spoke about it. He was also funny and kept us laughing throughout the tour. This tour helped us understand Reykjavík as we went to important landmarks and Tomas provided an explanation of each site we visited. We felt we got a better sense of the city/country after this tour thanks to Tomas' information. On top of that, the winds were blowing at 30km/hr (which made it very, very cold outside, wind burns to the face, etc.), but he strategically navigated us throughout the city by warning us when we would be protected from the wind and when it would affect us so we could brace ourselves. We ended up finishing indoors to keep warm thanks to Tomas' well-organized and considerate planning and we left with great recommendations on other things to do from him! Would highly recommend this walking tour!
