The fact that's St John is relaxing and laid back more nature and historical . The national park owns a good piece of the Island so it's well preserved. Make sure you make dinner reservations for the Cruz bag area as space is very limited.

St. John is a US territory, safe, beautiful beaches, nice selection of restaurants, no pressure shopping, etc. If you stay around Cruz Bay, you can get by without a rental car. There are plenty of open air taxis to take you to most of the North shore beaches (Hawksnest, Jumby, Honeymoon, Trunk Bay, Maho Bay). For 6-7 dollars each way pp. A rental Jeep runs 80-90 dollars/day and you have to have somewhere to park it at night.
If you like a warm, relaxing vacation of beach, snorkeling, and eating out, St John is a great option !

We were happy to see more visitors this year.
We were happy to see more visitors this year. Last year - post-hurricane - it was sad that more people did not come because the recovery and cleanup crews and volunteers did a really remarkable job making the beautiful beaches at Trunk Bay, Cinnamon, etc., visitor ready. Yes, there was a tremendous amount of rubble, but that was all moved back and paths were cleared so people could get to the beaches. This year, the cleanup up had made even more progress, and the people are as welcoming and easy going as ever despite what they've been through. We ate at some of our favoirite haunts: Margarita Phil's, Morgan's Mango, Aqua Bistro, etc., and still miss others like Shipwreck Landing that didn't make it. We were combing our mostly leisure time with a tiny bit of business and, were rewarded by being able to see students from the Gift Hill School doing their ballroom dancing, and greeting a visiting Young Adult author to speak. In town, that hurricane makes one think about how grateful we all should be for volunteers who are continuing to work on the cleanup, for all who step up.

All the National Park areas are fascinating, and it's great to get close to nature without disturbing it much, thanks to the hiking trails and protected waters. We just saw a small portion of the island and surrounding sea, but appreciate the easygoing calm atmosphere and culture. So nice to drop in on several beaches or other points of interest without paying separate admissions or keeping certain hours, no need to plan ahead. Really good food everywhere too, even late at night.
This is the best place to stay on the island, from the location to the hotel itself It was perfect! the included breakfast was surprisingly good, amazing views from everywhere.. breakfast, pool, private balcony.. only hotel you can walk to honeymoon which is by far the best beach on the entire island, and an even shorter walk right downtown for dinner anywhere. This is the only place to stay!
We had the Plantation Cottage and the room and bed were fantastic. Very clean, very comfortable . Property extremely well-kept and beautiful. Very easy access to town, restaurants and taxis. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Everything - begin with check in, being showed around the property, the use of beach stuff, breakfast, the staff, the comfortable bed, the beautiful grounds, the pool, the view, breakfast with the owner - everything was wonderful!
Such friendly staff.
Right on Cruz bay- close to everything including restaurants and bars. Very comfortable location.
Breathtaking views of the bay. Very quiet.
Rustic elegant rooms.
Will plan to come back at least once a year
Excellent location, walking distance for evening restaurants / bars. Could go snokeling from the hotel grounds. There was a good gymnasium at the hotel. There was a shop on the hotel grounds, did coffee etc.. very good.
Superb hotel. Rooms are comfortable, breakfast is superb. Everything you need is provided including beach chairs and cooler bag. All the staff are lovely. We can’t recommend this hotel highly enough.
Great location on the Island. Easy walking access to all Cruz Bay restaurants. Staff is very attentive. Facilities are great. Units are well appointed and comfortable. Well maintained.
The location is perfection! And the views from our patio were picture perfect. The pool and beach area were great, comfortable and clean. Kitchen was well stocked and functional.
Very friendly hosts. Wonderful view. Bed comfortable, but since I am used to a waterbed (i know, living in the 90s) it is always tough to be perfect. This was very good anyway.
