We only spent one night in Tadoussac, and that was definitely too short. The town lies on the confluence of the Saguenay fjord with the great St. Lawrence river. There is a quality of light to the place. Walk along the beach, then take a walk around the Pointe d'Islet (in both directions). If you are lucky you might see whales (we were unlucky). Definitely visit the whale museum which houses whale skeletons. It sounds a bit morbid but in fact the exhibit is modern and very good. The staff, who are also researchers, are very enthusiastic and bring their subject to life. Plenty of restaurants. Next time we will stay longer and chill.

It is an old hotel with lots of charm.
It is an old hotel with lots of charm. The large salon facing the St-Lawrence river and the chairs on the lawn are both inviting and relaxing.
There was a singer at the bar who made the evenings very enjoyable!
There are no refrigerators in the rooms though.

Tadoussac is a wonderful place.
Tadoussac is a wonderful place. The landscape is fantastically beautiful. The history of the area is fascinating. The local people are friendly and welcoming. In spite of the large amounts of tourism in the area Parks Canada does a wonderful job of keeping the wilderness preserved and the native flora and fauna intact. Seeing whales and other marine life in an unspoiled wild environment is a truly special and beautiful experience.

Tadoussac has a lovely picturesque bay and of course the famous whale watching boat trips leave from the harbour. The town is very small but there are lovely drives along the Saguenay fjord . I recommend you ask for information at the local Tourist Office and make sure to drive down to the little "anses" along the way on the Saguenay river which give you a beautiful, scenic view.
We stayed 2 nights which seemed perfect.

A great place to travel and seek adventure.
A great place to travel and seek adventure. Visited on July 1st. I stayed for 2 days. You can easily get comfortable and stay here for a week if you want to take your time. If you are in a rush though 2 days is just enough to cover all major attractions.
I went there in the pursuit of photographing whales. But found there was much more to it.
The place is so peaceful and quiet and has all modern infrastructure.
You can undertake various activities like canoeing, hiking and just exploring the place on your car or by renting an e-bike.
Must see/do
-Whale watching cruise.
-Hike to the Islet point and relax by the Saguenay river. You might spot whales from here.
-Explore the Saguenay fjord.
-Explore the sand dunes.
-Also go to the marine interpretation center if you are into that sort of things. It closes at 6pm.
Food?
- Some good places to eat out at around Baie Tadoussac near hotel tadoussac. Rates might be high. And you may get refused service after 8:30ppm as they mostly close by 9pm. There ain't lot of restaurants so plan accordingly.
How I got there?
-I live in Ottawa. So from Ottawa I took a via rail to Quebec city. Got Intercar bus from Quebec city to Tadoussac. next morning.
Overall it was great trip. Especially if you have your own vehicle you can have more fun!

Everybody was very friendly in the town.
Everybody was very friendly in the town. We arrived late in evening and most restaurants were closing, but Cafe Boheme put together a quick cold meal for us. SOO much appreciated this kindness.
two whale tours with AML. Large boat was fun and good experience. The covered zodiac was amazing. Captain, guide and staff were AMAZING. So knowledgeable and fun. Boat was comfortable, easy to move around in. Saw Humpback and Beluga with 3 day old baby....we might not have known if researcher wasn't onboard. We recommend this HIGHLY... best tour ever....
What a beautiful setting/town. The drive up was amazing as well.
Having read many negative reviews about this place, our expectations were really low. However, we were pleasantly surprised that we ended up getting a room with full bathroom and that breakfast was included in our stay. In addition, the room included a mini fridge which was nice. Beds and pillows were ok in terms of comfort. The room was clean, with heating and A/c and they had all of the necessary toiletries, and included a hair dryer. The best part of Galouine is its excellent location (walking distance to everything worth seeing).
The cottage is about 6 km from Tadoussac but it does not feel too far. Very well equipped with all pots, pans, kitchen accessories and appliances. An excellent place to stay with the family and enjoy the serene environment and surroundings. The third bedroom needs to improve with a better bed and mattress.
Overall a very satisfying stay and would highly recommend it for a reasonable priced place to stay.
it was clean and we asked to see if we could have the rooms close by, they're fullfil the request by putting our room next to each other. the staff were friendly as we have a late check in. she was very kind and smiling to received us. The next morning the same lady helped me with my whale watching booking, she was truly helpful and always with a smile. that'a super customer service!!
Tadoussac is one of several towns in eastern Quebec that offers whale watching trips on the St Lawrence River. The front desk sells whale watching tickets.
My room was nicely furnished. There is a restaurant on the property that opens early. Parking is easy. A shuttle bus to the harbour stops in front of the hotel. The room has plenty of electrical outlets.
Very pleasant and helpful owners
Excellent, modern accommodations
Excellent breakfast - cooked fresh right there
Easy parking
Pretty good view
2 minute drive to tourist area
Guylaine made sure we had our bracelets for the whale watching tour - a detail that saved us from a bunch of problems and delays. She also provided some local reference material.
The room was very well designed/planned for the space. The view toward the river and museum was awesome. My son immediately wanted to climb the stairs of the Musee de la Civilization and I snapped some pictures of him waiving at me! Breakfast was good and the location was amazing. Quiet at night, yet close enough to the action.
Location was perfect for exploring the town. Room was good sized with patio door and small porch at front and parking at back with another door. Keurig coffee machine was nice. Grounds were well kept and it was nice sitting outside. Bakery was right across the street. Lots of restaurants in easy walking distance.
Loved our private studio room with country decor, comfortable bed, small kitchenette, small bathroom and small balcony overlooking small lake through woods. It is close to the town, to delicious French cuisine restaurants, the boardwalk stunning coastline trail, and the whale watching tour boat.
The nice view, the very warm welcome by the hosts, the porch to relax, the parking behind the hotel (it is difficult find parking space in the village), breakfast was lovely. We had a fridge in the room. There was the ability to make coffee in the room.
There were good views towards the river. Having 2 connecting rooms worked well for us. Check in was easy. We could walk into town and found le Bateaux was a good restaurant for affordable food and very popular.
Breakfast was a buffet served by hotel staff.Plenty of fruit and whatever you wanted.Would have preferred to have fresh eggs made the way we wanted instead of scrambled.
Bruno was a fabulous host. The room was beautiful and very clean. The view was amazing. The breakfast was delicious, a really nice meal. We didn’t want to leave!
