We only spent one night in Tadoussac, and that was definitely too short. The town lies on the confluence of the Saguenay fjord with the great St. Lawrence river. There is a quality of light to the place. Walk along the beach, then take a walk around the Pointe d'Islet (in both directions). If you are lucky you might see whales (we were unlucky). Definitely visit the whale museum which houses whale skeletons. It sounds a bit morbid but in fact the exhibit is modern and very good. The staff, who are also researchers, are very enthusiastic and bring their subject to life. Plenty of restaurants. Next time we will stay longer and chill.

It is an old hotel with lots of charm.
It is an old hotel with lots of charm. The large salon facing the St-Lawrence river and the chairs on the lawn are both inviting and relaxing.
There was a singer at the bar who made the evenings very enjoyable!
There are no refrigerators in the rooms though.

Tadoussac is a wonderful place.
Tadoussac is a wonderful place. The landscape is fantastically beautiful. The history of the area is fascinating. The local people are friendly and welcoming. In spite of the large amounts of tourism in the area Parks Canada does a wonderful job of keeping the wilderness preserved and the native flora and fauna intact. Seeing whales and other marine life in an unspoiled wild environment is a truly special and beautiful experience.

Tadoussac has a lovely picturesque bay and of course the famous whale watching boat trips leave from the harbour. The town is very small but there are lovely drives along the Saguenay fjord . I recommend you ask for information at the local Tourist Office and make sure to drive down to the little "anses" along the way on the Saguenay river which give you a beautiful, scenic view.
We stayed 2 nights which seemed perfect.

A great place to travel and seek adventure.
A great place to travel and seek adventure. Visited on July 1st. I stayed for 2 days. You can easily get comfortable and stay here for a week if you want to take your time. If you are in a rush though 2 days is just enough to cover all major attractions.
I went there in the pursuit of photographing whales. But found there was much more to it.
The place is so peaceful and quiet and has all modern infrastructure.
You can undertake various activities like canoeing, hiking and just exploring the place on your car or by renting an e-bike.
Must see/do
-Whale watching cruise.
-Hike to the Islet point and relax by the Saguenay river. You might spot whales from here.
-Explore the Saguenay fjord.
-Explore the sand dunes.
-Also go to the marine interpretation center if you are into that sort of things. It closes at 6pm.
Food?
- Some good places to eat out at around Baie Tadoussac near hotel tadoussac. Rates might be high. And you may get refused service after 8:30ppm as they mostly close by 9pm. There ain't lot of restaurants so plan accordingly.
How I got there?
-I live in Ottawa. So from Ottawa I took a via rail to Quebec city. Got Intercar bus from Quebec city to Tadoussac. next morning.
Overall it was great trip. Especially if you have your own vehicle you can have more fun!

Everybody was very friendly in the town.
Everybody was very friendly in the town. We arrived late in evening and most restaurants were closing, but Cafe Boheme put together a quick cold meal for us. SOO much appreciated this kindness.
two whale tours with AML. Large boat was fun and good experience. The covered zodiac was amazing. Captain, guide and staff were AMAZING. So knowledgeable and fun. Boat was comfortable, easy to move around in. Saw Humpback and Beluga with 3 day old baby....we might not have known if researcher wasn't onboard. We recommend this HIGHLY... best tour ever....
What a beautiful setting/town. The drive up was amazing as well.
Having read many negative reviews about this place, our expectations were really low. However, we were pleasantly surprised that we ended up getting a room with full bathroom and that breakfast was included in our stay. In addition, the room included a mini fridge which was nice. Beds and pillows were ok in terms of comfort. The room was clean, with heating and A/c and they had all of the necessary toiletries, and included a hair dryer. The best part of Galouine is its excellent location (walking distance to everything worth seeing).
The front of the hotel looks out over Tadoussac and the view is lovely. Wood-panelled room with cottage vibe. Smallish shower in a perfectly functional bathroom. No coffee-maker in the room but there is a kitchenette with a coffee-maker and coffee pods for sale (2$). The walk into town is steep but not very long, however the way back seemed longer. We walked down to the whale-watching boat and were happy we did not have to find and pay for parking.
Lovely little hotel! Walkable to the town if you're willing to go back up a big hill on the way back. There was just a bed in our room and one small chair so there wouldn't be much space to relax but it's perfect place to rest your head! The receptionist didn't speak English but we were able to check in just fine! Free parking is great.
Ella and her son were wonderful hosts. Ella bent over backwards to show us things on the map, help with some food, point out good restaurants (we tried Cafe Boheme and it was excellent) and allowed us to park longer than we should have. In every way, she went above and beyond. Thank you, Ella!
"The" hotel to stay in when sojourning in Tadoussac. Old school charm combined with a great view of the bay and the proper service one might expect in such a hotel. We especially enjoyed the cosy decoration and the excellent restaurant with direct view of the surroundings. Highly recommended.
Excellent location by the water. Beautiful historic hotel very clean I wished the rooms were a bit bigger . Overall a great stay . Staff very courteous. It’s a must to stay at hotel Tadoussac when visiting the area. Fully recommend it.
lovely room with view over the river, free coffee. excellent home-made breakfasts, the owners and staff doing all they could to help….very attentive. many restaurants nearby offering varying menu’s. a thoroughly enjoyable 3 days…
Very clean, gret location in walking distance to everything in Tadoussac and right across a very nice bakery to get breakfast. Overall quiet, did not hear any neighbours or disturbing traffic noise. Painfree check-in and check-out.
