This place is beautiful and cozy! After long day in cold and snow there is no better place to be but at the chimney with hot drink. Extremely kind staff. Special thanks to Anastasia who was very helpful and patient when our tour was cancelled on last minute. If I ever come back to Spitsbergen, I will stay in the same hotel.

Property information

Mary-Ann's Polarrigg gives you the real Svalbard experience. Created in 1999 by founder Mary-Ann Dahle, the hotel was transformed from its previous life as miners barracks carefully and lovingly into what we have today. Many items throughout the hotel are from the old coal mines in the area including the red miners' bus which stands outside the bar area and serves as a smoking shelter complete with fairy lights. The hotel offers a self-catering kitchen with all the necessary equipment. Complimentary wi-fi and tea/coffee are always at your disposal. Our restaurant, Vinterhagen, is the greenest place in Svalbard, where you can relax in the warmth of our floor-heated conservatory full of natural plants and trees, whilst taking in the Arctic landscape surrounding Longyearbyen. Our specialty is Arctic food from the North of Norway such as reindeer and seal, a must-try during your trip in the far North. On occasion, we also offer a taste of cultures around the world during our 'World Kitchen' events. Finish the night with some drinks in our intimate Peisen Bar featuring a full wall mural by famous graffiti artist Guido van Helten.
