San Diego, California is one of my favorite cities in the USA and, maybe, in the entire world. It does not matter if you go there for a family vacation, romantic getaway, or business trip, there is something for everybody! Let’s talk about each area of the city in more details, including the suggestions of where to stay.

The downtown area has so much to offer. That’s where the famous Gaslamp quarter is located. Gaslamp is full of life any time of the year, any day of the week. It has numerous restaurants, cafes, and bars. The affordable and clean hotel called Red Roof Inn San Diego Downtown features simple rooms in the heart of San Diego. The hotel was recently renovated. 500 West Hotel San Diego Downtown can be also a great option for budget travelers. It has shared male or female dorm-style rooms with bunk beds and Jack and Jill bathrooms. It also has a kitchen in case you want to cook your own meal.

Bay Park

Bay Park is a more secluded area of the city, great for travelers with kids or business meetings. It is located very close to, probably, my favorite sight of the city – the Old Town. San Diego’s proximity to Mexico had a big influence on the city’s development. The Old Town is the place where you can go back in time and see how the city looked 300 years ago. The rooms of Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa are quite charming, most of them with sea views. If you want to go out, the best area is just a ten-minute drive to the Gaslamp quarter.

Marina is probably the best area to stay if you are on vacation and want to simply relax and enjoy the amazing view. San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina has all the features that you can think of – a rooftop bar, a gym, luxurious featherbeds, designer toiletries, in-room coffee makers, 32-inch flat screen television, and high-speed internet. If you don’t feel like going to the beach, you can always stay by the two private swimming pools provided by the hotel.

SeaWorld Area

If you are visiting family, you will absolutely love SeaWorld! Make sure to pay a visit! Not only that, if you have more time in your schedule, take in the wild animals at the San Diego Zoo or  the San Diego Safari park. Moreover, if your kids are still craving more, treat them to Legoland. I am sure your family will never forget this vacation! In order to relax in between these adventures, I recommend choosing a hotel close to that area. Comfort Inn & Suites San Diego – Zoo SeaWorld Area would be a great choice. The hotel features separate rooms for kids, a breakfast buffet, and free Wi-Fi. You can relax in a heated outdoor swimming pool or work out in the gym if you are feeling energetic.
